Miranda Loh

Miranda Loh is Director of Science and Engagement at the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM). She leads the Research Team, which develops IOM’s research capabilities in hazardous substances exposure assessment, health and wellbeing at work, and air pollution and the built environment’s impact on human exposure and health. She is also interested in science communication and engagement with communities. Projects she has recently worked on include use of wearable sensors in exposure and risk assessment and management, creative methods for engaging the public and stakeholders in environmental health issues. Topics of research include air pollution exposures, especially personal level exposures, indoor and outdoor air pollution, sensor use, effectiveness of facemasks in protecting against particles; evaluating the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the environment, and risks of Covid-19 environmental transmission in the workplace. She has worked on projects in the USA and Europe, China, Kenya, India, and Thailand.
